The board previously approved “Option 1” for construction of a turf softball field at the high school at a preliminary cost of $4,837,774, and administration and CHA met on June 10, 2026 to refine the design, project scope, and next steps. Adjustments discussed include reduced seating with a press platform instead of a press box, masonry dugouts instead of precast, reduced design costs, revised light pole arrangements, and approximately $300,000 already cut from the estimate while maintaining $500,000 in escalation and contingency. The project is clearly moving through design development toward permitting with the Borough and Conservation District, but no construction contractor has been named yet.This creates an upcoming opportunity for sports field builders, site contractors, lighting vendors, and related trades to position for the bid phase and for specialty vendors (scoreboards, seating, netting, surfacing) to influence specifications through CHA and district facilities staff before procurement documents are finalized.

Estimated cost has been reduced by roughly $300K with continued value engineering; $500K in escalation and contingency remains in the budget as design advances.
