The Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) discussed multiple initiatives on May 20, 2026 to improve bicycle and micromobility safety, including recommendations under the State’s Pedestrian Safety Action Plan (PSAP), expansion of green bike-lane markings, better multilingual signage on bridges, and development of a Micromobility Safety Hub with videos, QR codes, and multi-language pamphlets. BPAC is coordinating with MDOT, Public Works, and Tourism, and the Mayor and Council are being asked to approve forwarding PSAP recommendations to MDOT and to adopt a new BPAC logo. Although much of the work is in-house and grant/donation supported (e.g., Walmart and American Legion bike-light donations), the scale of ongoing tasks—survey analysis, content production in multiple languages, safety campaigns for J1 seasonal workers, and corridor treatments—indicates a continuing need for specialized support. This opens a pre-RFP opportunity for firms in transportation safety consulting, creative/translation services, wayfinding and roadway signage, and digital engagement platforms to help Ocean City implement and evaluate the safety hub, education materials, and corridor treatments at St. Louis Avenue, Sinepuxent Avenue, Route 50, and Route 90.
