Resolution 3543, adopted June 1, 2026, approves a three-year 28E agreement between the City of Boone and Boone School District to continue a School Resource Officer (SRO) program. The School District will pay the City up to $62,000 in FY 2026-27, $62,930 in FY 2027-28, and $63,874 in FY 2028-29 for 180 days of SRO service each school year, with payments billed monthly. The City and Police Department retain responsibility for program reporting, financial reporting, and general management, and the program will be evaluated annually by the SRO, School, Department, and City. Although the agreement itself is service-based and internal, the long-term commitment to a formal SRO program creates recurring needs in officer training, youth engagement programs, data tracking, and safety technology.
