On May 19, 2026 the Selectboard discussed a rectangular rapid flashing beacon (RRFB) added to a crosswalk that VTrans determined was not installed in compliance with state standards. After a complaint about it not functioning, VTrans inspected and found placement and other issues; the town removed the beacon and negotiated for VTrans to add additional static signs and reflective strips at no cost. Cody Marsh stated he requested a quote to replace the beacon with a system that meets standards, including revised placement, reflective post strips, and bringing the adjacent sidewalk up to ADA compliance, estimating about 10000 per beacon and an additional 5000–10000 for sidewalk work.The board noted that none of the sidewalks in Jeffersonville are ADA compliant and that funding is not yet budgeted, though the town has 186000 in the highway project reserve fund that was expected to support paving. Cody plans to bring a quote back to the board, indicating early-stage planning for a compliant RRFB and potential sidewalk reconstruction project. This is a clear opportunity for traffic engineering, civil design, and construction vendors specializing in pedestrian safety enhancements and ADA upgrades to help scope, design, and eventually build compliant facilities.
