On June 16, 2026, Becker City Council adopted Resolution 26-57 accepting SEH’s 3rd Street Stop Sign Study and authorizing staff to implement its recommended traffic control changes along 3rd Street from Hancock Avenue to Edgewood Street. The study, commissioned for $7,800 from the Public Works Streets operating budget, analyzed volumes, sight distance, crash history, and warrants at Forrest Drive, Brenda Boulevard, and Bradley Boulevard, and recommended converting Bradley/3rd to an all-way stop and Brenda/3rd to two-way stop, along with tree trimming to improve sight distance. Implementation will require staff time plus purchase and installation of new permanent and temporary warning signs, as well as ongoing coordination with Becker Police for enforcement and public messaging. Although the consulting portion with SEH is complete, the corridor-wide safety focus and evidence-based approach suggest future needs for signing/striping suppliers, traffic calming products, data collection technology, and potentially further safety or pedestrian enhancements as the area around the high school and commercial nodes continues to develop.
