MPSCS leadership reported that they have 131 of 137 authorized staff hired and have requested 10 new positions in the FY 2027 budget along with 6600000 in ongoing funding for those positions, plus a separate 7600000 service request to cover rising Motorola and Nokia maintenance costs. They are also pursuing FEMA reimbursement of 2300000–3000000 for ice storm-related expenses, a 5500000 work project awaiting approval, and planning for lifecycle replacements including generators at over 180 sites in Lifecycle Zone 5 and 6 in the Upper Peninsula and eventual replacement of the primary MSI ASTRO system before its 2030 end of life. These budget and lifecycle plans point to upcoming procurements for radio system maintenance, generators, towers, and core system upgrades as funding is approved.Vendors in LMR infrastructure, generators, lifecycle planning, and professional services can engage early to shape specifications for generator deployments, ASTRO migration or replacement strategies, and county integrations such as Huron County’s tower redeployment and Livingston County’s four new green sites.

House initially proposed a multi-million dollar cut but reduced it to a 570000 cut; funding for lower Michigan upgrades is not yet available though a plan exists.
