In the April 15, 2026 budget work session, officials discussed a significant increase in dispatch costs and the move to Layton Dispatch, alongside the idea of increasing the dispatch fee charged locally. Later, on April 21, they revisited the Dispatch Fund and made corrections to labeling and fee structures as part of the FY 2026 and FY 2027 budgeting process. These discussions, combined with the June 2 approval of the regional dispatch addendum, show that dispatch services are a major and growing budget item. Vendors focusing on 911, CAD/RMS, and public safety communications can use this as context to propose ways to lower total cost of ownership, optimize service levels, or bring additional value (analytics, QA, training) to justify the higher fees and costs being passed through the system.

The city is adjusting internal dispatch fee structures to reflect increased regional service costs.
