ICTC reports that the project to establish a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) facility in Calipatria has secured $250,000 in funding. This budget will cover construction and procurement of all required equipment, enabling a fully equipped facility to serve residents in the north end and, on operating days, all of Imperial County. ICTC staff are currently working with the City of Calipatria on project planning and development, suggesting that detailed design, permitting, facility outfitting, and operations planning are still ahead.With funding secured but implementation not yet procured, there is an opening for engineering, architectural design, environmental compliance, and HHW systems and equipment vendors to shape the facility. Service providers for hazardous waste handling, staffing, and ongoing operations may also find an opportunity as the city and ICTC define how the site will be built and managed.

Facility will serve the north end of Imperial Valley but be available to all county residents on operating days; scope includes both building construction and equipment.
