Eagle River Fire Protection District is expanding its Eagle Valley Wildland (EVW) program, supported by multiple intergovernmental agreements (IGAs) and grant funding to reduce wildfire risk through mitigation, suppression, and public education. In the May 21, 2026 minutes, Division Chief Fairfield-Smith presented an evolving EVW scope of work that will be updated as new approvals are received and additional grant dollars “open up,” and staff noted that all EVW funding has been pledged but is still moving through legal review and IGA approvals.
