During the June 9, 2026 work session, Laramie’s Parks, Recreation, and Public Services staff briefed Council on the 2026 mosquito control program, including staffing levels, aerial and ground treatments, and West Nile Virus surveillance. The presentation highlighted use of Wyoming’s Emergency Insect Management Grant (EMIG) to fund late-season adulticide applications and lab supplies for mosquito speciation and RAMP testing for multiple mosquito districts in Albany County. While no purchasing motions were made in this work session, the update confirms ongoing operational needs for larvicides, adulticides, ULV fogging, surveillance equipment, testing supplies, and public communication tools. Vendors in mosquito control products, lab testing, and public outreach can position themselves for future seasons by aligning with the city’s integrated pest management approach and the EMIG funding cycle.
