During the June 1, 2026 meeting, Road Agent Jesse Horne reported that the outlet headwall of the School Street culvert pipe has separated from the embankment, creating a risk that the wall could tip and dislodge the pipe, damaging the road. He has contacted NH-DES for an emergency permit to work in wetlands to temporarily remove the headwall and secure the pipe, but additional, more permanent repair work will be required. Town Administrator Joe Chivell noted that this headwall and pipe were identified in the Town’s 2024 Hazard Mitigation Plan, which may enable Rumney to apply for mitigation funding once the final repair scope is determined.This sets up a near-term need for engineering assessment, culvert/headwall design, permitting support, construction services, and potentially grant-writing tied to mitigation funding. Vendors in civil engineering, drainage construction, and hazard mitigation consulting can begin positioning to help the town define the repair solution and develop a fundable project package.
