Bernie R-XIII School District revised its Wellness Plan in June 2026, setting detailed goals for nutrition education, physical activity, and other school-based health activities, and formalizing annual evaluation and reporting processes. The plan calls for comprehensive K-12 nutrition and physical activity education, staff professional development, public awareness campaigns, health clinics and screenings, and systematic tracking of menus, a la carte items, vending, and physical activity offerings. The School Health Advisory Committee is required to complete a baseline assessment, select at least two priority improvement areas each year, and develop an Action Work Plan at the beginning of each school year.This creates ongoing needs for curriculum-aligned wellness resources, professional development, data collection tools, and support services to implement and monitor the program. Vendors offering student wellness curricula, health screening services, data systems, and training can help the district operationalize and document these requirements year over year.
