At the June 1, 2026 Committee of the Whole meeting, staff outlined plans to update the City’s 2018 Master Plan and to conduct a separate Recreation Master Plan. During the remainder of 2026 they will develop the project framework, consultant selection approach, working group structure, and steering committee recommendations, with the formal planning process launching in 2027. The 2018 Master Plan cost about 165000 over two capital improvement cycles, and the current CIP includes 120000 as placeholder funding for the Master Plan update and 50000 for the Recreation Master Plan. Staff are researching peer-city planning efforts in places like Montgomery, Madeira, Blue Ash, and Oxford, where consultant-led public engagement and modern tools such as online surveys and GIS platforms were standard. This indicates Wyoming expects to hire outside planning and engagement consultants for both efforts. Firms specializing in comprehensive planning, parks and recreation planning, public engagement, urban design, and related studies have a near‑term opportunity to educate staff on approaches, tools, and scope ahead of any RFQ or RFP in late 2026 or early 2027.
