At its June 16, 2026 meeting Tyrone Township considered and adopted Civil Infractions Ordinance No. 39C via Resolution 2606xx, repealing earlier ordinances and comprehensively updating procedures for enforcing township codes as municipal civil infractions. The ordinance establishes the office of Ordinance Enforcement Officer, specifies citation content and service methods, defines a fine schedule that escalates by number of notices, and authorizes the Supervisor, enforcement officer, and sheriff’s deputies to issue citations and appear in court.The ordinance also directs that fines and costs, including attorney’s fees and enforcement expenses, are to be deposited into the township’s general fund and requires record-keeping and reporting to the board after hearings. With the new ordinance taking effect 30 days after publication, the township will need practical tools—such as code enforcement software, citation management, officer training, and possibly legal support for contested infractions—to operationalize the new framework across departments and coordinate with the district court.

The ordinance authorizes broad enforcement of all township code provisions via civil infractions and contemplates significant reporting and cost recovery, which may drive process and technology needs.
