As part of recurring work session discussions on immigration enforcement, the Council has directed staff to prepare a policy on sharing of data and access to city buildings. The June 8 memo notes that, based on prior March 9 and May 11 work sessions, staff will bring a draft policy to a future work session for consideration, likely addressing when and how external entities, including federal immigration authorities, can access city facilities or data. This type of policy will intersect with IT systems, records management, security, and legal compliance. Once drafted, the city may need help inventorying systems and data flows, tightening access controls, documenting procedures, and possibly implementing technical changes in case management, video surveillance, identity/access management, or public records systems. Vendors in IT security, public-sector data governance, and facilities access control can position early to support both policy design and implementation.
