Agreement effective for one (1) year from date signed; J-1 teacher participation may be up to 3 years with possible 1–2 year extensions; emergency medical & travel insurance included for first 90 days of 1st year

Renewal

Base agreement is valid for one year from signature and may be terminated by either party with 30 days’ written notice; J-1 teacher sponsorship itself can run up to three years with Department of State-approved extensions of one or two additional years, subject to payment of annual renewal and extension fees. Renewal fees are invoiced in the second half of the academic year for the following year.
