URI SMILE and Newport renew STEM participation pact

The University of Rhode Island SMILE Program entered into a 2025-2026 participation agreement with the Newport School Department to support after-school STEM enrichment clubs at Claiborne Pell Elementary, Thompson Middle, and Rogers High School. URI/SMILE will fund leader stipends, supplies, and certain travel costs, and will directly provide transportation, board, and instruction for Ecology Field Day and Engineering Challenge events through June 30, 2026.
