Louisiana DPS&C and ICE Sign 287(g) Jail Enforcement MOA

The Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement under the 287(g) Jail Enforcement Model. The agreement authorizes DPS&C personnel, once trained and certified by ICE, to perform certain immigration enforcement functions in state correctional facilities. ICE provides training, IT infrastructure, and oversight, while DPS&C covers personnel costs; the agreement is effective July 24, 2025 and remains in effect until terminated.

The MOA remains in effect until terminated or suspended by either party. ICE may review every three years. It may be modified in writing by both parties. Refresher training required for DPS&C personnel at least every two years. Termination requires written notice; ICE termination notice published 90 days in advance unless for cause.
