Cumberland Council approved joining the City of Courtenay’s existing waste collection contract with Emterra Environmental to transition to automated garbage, recycling, and organics collection by spring 2027. The Village will keep Emterra’s current manual service in place during the transition and authorized an additional $35,000 from reserves to support implementation.
