Railroad Crossing Upgrade Contract Approved for Lake Avenue

The City of Eagle Lake approved an agreement with Florida Midland Railroad Company, LLC and the Florida Department of Transportation for installation of new active warning devices at the Lake Avenue railroad crossing. FDOT will fund the installation estimated at $246,842, while the City and Railroad will each pay 50% ($1,967 annually) of the ongoing maintenance cost. This will upgrade the crossing’s safety features with flashing lights, gates, and signal house.
