River Partners is working with the City of Bakersfield on a proposed $4.3 million Lower Kern River Restoration Project, with the City providing approximately $237,071 in irrigation water as cost share over 2027–2032. The partners plan to seek Wildlife Conservation Board funding to restore hundreds of acres of riparian and upland habitat along the Kern River Parkway.
