Brighton Plans Fire Management Agreement With FFSL

The Brighton Town Council is considering authorization for the Mayor to enter a five-year Cooperative Agreement with the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands to serve as the Town’s Fire Management Authority for non-federal lands. The agreement defines responsibilities for wildfire prevention, preparedness, suppression cost-sharing, and training under Utah state law, and may renew for additional five-year terms.

Renewal

Initial term is five years from the Effective Date in 2025. If neither party revokes, the agreement may automatically renew for consecutive five-year terms, with no limit on renewals. At the end of each five-year term, the agreement must be updated as needed to comply with Utah Code Title 65A and Utah Admin. Code R652. FFSL may revoke for noncompliance after probation; the Town may revoke by written notice or failing to sign annual commitment statements.
