Coastal Conservancy Staff Report San Clemente Sand Retention Planning Project April 2026

The State Coastal Conservancy approved a grant of up to $2,000,000 to the City of San Clemente to plan the North Beach Sand Retention project, including technical studies, alternatives analysis, preliminary engineering designs, and community engagement. The planning effort will address critical coastal erosion and support climate-resilient shoreline protection using a nature-based, multi-benefit breakwater and beach nourishment concept.
