Ferndale School District Awards Professional Services Contract to Northwest Educational Service District 189 (August 2026)

Northwest Educational Service District 189 and participating Whatcom County school districts entered into an interlocal cooperative agreement for the 2026/27 Whatcom County Detention Center Education Program. NWESD will provide institutional education services to detained youth, funded by state apportionment and district cost-sharing with a nine percent indirect cost for administration. The agreement runs from September 1, 2026 through August 31, 2027 and supersedes prior agreements.
